  Diary Entry: June 11, 2008

Wednesday: This morning, Mitchell played another prank on me. He woke me up saying that I slept through the entire summer and today was the first day of school. Like an idiot, I believed him. So, I got ready and went outside to catch the bus and waited for 20 freakin’ minutes. I can’t believe I fell for that. I wonder if genies or fairy godparents are real so I could wish I wasn’t born into this family so Mitchell wouldn’t have to be my brother.

Mitchell came to Brandon’s door and told him that he was going to buy some stuff for the party.

“I’ll be back in a few minutes. Don’t go in my room or touch anything that is mine.” Brandon mumbled ‘whatever’ under his breath.

Brandon was so ticked off at Mitchell that he had to do something to truly make him mad. So, he went into Mitchell’s room and looked for anything that was very valuable to Mitchell. He finally found Mitchell’s collection of video games and took them and hid them in his room.

“That’ll teach him to pull a prank on me again. He’ll freak out when he can’t find ‘em,” said Brandon sneakily. Suddenly, he heard the door downstairs.

Mitchell was back at the house with a bunch of food. He went to the kitchen and put it down.

Brandon asked, “Who is coming to this stupid party anyway?”

Mitchell replied, “Lina, Cassandra, Dana, Crystal, and a few other people, too. And you will never guess who is also coming. Your best friend, Randy.”

“Why would you invite him,” Brandon asked aggravated. “He has been picking on me since forever, and you have given him the perfect opportunity to actually kill me this time.”

Mitchell explained, “That’s the whole reason for me inviting him over here tonight.” Mitchell was pleased with the reaction he got from Brandon.

“What kind of brother are you?” asked Brandon.

“The kind that bullies his little brother for fun,” replied Mitchell. Mitchell finished setting up and went to his bedroom to get ready for the party. Suddenly Brandon heard of scream.

  “Oh my God!” exclaimed Mitchell.

Brandon inquired, “What are you yelling about?” Brandon already knew what was going on.

“Where are my games at? I had them all beside my game system.” Mitchell steamed.

“What are you talking about?” asked Brandon. Mitchell then ran and grabbed Brandon by the collar of his shirt.

He then replied, “Where are my games? I know you took them.”

“I didn’t take anything of yours. Now let me go,” demanded Brandon. He struggled to get loose and broke free of Mitchell’s grasp. All of a sudden there was a knock at the door.

“You go answer the door, while I finish getting ready. We will continue this discussion later,” said Mitchell.

  Chapter 4

Brandon went and answered the door and was not surprised by their first guest. It was Lina and she was ready to party.

“Time to party,” she exclaimed. “Where is the food?” He looked at her with disgust and let her in. After a while, Mitchell finally came downstairs. People continuously showed up for the party for at least twenty minutes straight. Mitchell thought the party was going great.

Mitchell told Brandon to sit down with them in the living room. He had a surprise for him. Mitchell left out of the room and came back with an unexpected surprise. Randy stalked into the room behind Mitchell.

“Guess who,” said Randy, “I bet you didn’t count on your worst nightmare showing up to your party, in your house. Did ya, wimp?”

“You got one thing right. You face is what you call a nightmare. Are you the Boogeyman or Freddy Krueger?” replied Brandon.

“So the wimp has a sense of humor. I will be sure to beat that out of you when I get the chance and you better believe the chance is closer than you think,” said Brandon. Randy pushed Brandon out of the way and disappeared into the crowd. The night progressed and the party continued. It was about midnight when all of the drama started.

Brandon asked Mitchell, “Have you seen Lina and Randy. I can’t find them anywhere.”

Mitchell replied, “I think they said something about going to you room to do something.”

“What? Why would you let them go to my room? Randy hates me and he could find something to ruin my life,” yelled Brandon.

Mitchell retorted, “I don’t care. Maybe you should not have stolen my games and hid them. Maybe then I would have stopped them.” Brandon almost slapped Mitchell. He held back and quickly ran to his room. He hid outside in the hallway beside his doorway listening to what was going on in his room.

He then heard Lina when she said, “You’ll never guess what I found.” He then heard an unrecognizable sound. “That little sissy has a diary and he writes in it like every day.”

“You’ve got to be kidding me. That little twerp keeps a diary?” asked Randy, amused. “Wow, there is some juicy information in here.” Brandon sprinted into the room.

Brandon yelled, “What are you doing in my bedroom?” He sees the journal in Randy’s hands and tries to snatch it. His attempt was unsuccessful.

“Give me back my journal, you jerk,” demanded Brandon.

“Give me back my journal,” teased Randy mockingly. “Only wimps carry diaries.” Brandon tried to grab the journal again but was still unsuccessful. Randy opened the journal to the last page as if he were about to read the entry.

“Wow, there is some juicy stuff in here. Here’s a nice one and recent, too,” Randy taunted and he began to read, “Wednesday: Today I woke up and felt like someone dumped some water on me. When I got out of bed, I realized that I had wet the bed. So, I pulled my bed sheets and comforter off my bed and put it in the washing machine without anyone knowing. Then--.”

“Put my journal down right now and get out of my room,” threatened Brandon.

“That’s a good one. Maybe I’ll put it on MySpace,” said Randy.

Lina said, “Whoa, I can’t believe you still wet the bed. How old are you?” Brandon tried to snatch the journal from Randy’s hand again. This time he grabbed it, but Randy wouldn’t let it go.

“Let go of my journal, Randy,” demanded Brandon.

“Make me let it go, wimp,” replied Randy.

“Yeah, make him put it down,” Lina yelled.

“Will you shut up. I don’t think I need an echo,” said Randy to Lina.

There is a tug-of-war going on between Randy and Brandon, and the journal was the rope. Suddenly, something unsuspected happened. Brandon swung at Randy with his other hand and punched him in the jaw. Randy let go of the journal and rubbed his jaw. Then, he finally snapped back into his own mind and threw an extremely forceful punch at Brandon’s stomach. Brandon fell to the floor with his hands on his stomach.

Meanwhile, back downstairs at the party everyone heard a strange noise coming from upstairs.

  “What was that?” asked Cassandra

“Probably nothing, but somebody go check it out anyway,” said Mitchell.

Crystal then answered, “I’ll go.” Crystal went upstairs and checked in every room until finally she got to Brandon’s room and saw him lying on the floor being kicked in the stomach by Randy.

“Oh my God!” exclaimed Crystal, “Somebody get up here. There is a fight going on.”

Suddenly everyone at the party stormed up the stairs and into Brandon’s room. Mitchell was the last one to get up there, so he had to push through the crowd to see who it was that was fighting. Brandon was still there on the floor being kicked in the stomach by Randy.

Then Dana asked horrified, “Aren’t you gonna do something?”

“Let him fight his own battles. This is his fight not mine,” said Mitchell.

“That’ll teach you to ever hit me again,” yelled Randy as he continued to kick Brandon.

“I can’t believe you would sit there and let that jerk beat up your little brother,” yelled Crystal to Mitchell.

  Mitchell stea
med, “If you’re so concerned, then you help him.” He walked out the room.

“I will,” yelled Crystal to Mitchell down the hallway. Crystal ran and got between Randy and Brandon to try and break up the fight. Randy slapped Crystal and pushed her down.

Lina was horrified, “Stop it Randy. You are taking it a little too far. You just slapped Crystal. You are about to kill Brandon. This wasn’t part of the plan.” She had gotten through to Randy.

Randy stooped down beside Brandon on the floor and said, “She just saved your life. Hopefully, you learned something from this. You better not ever mess with me if you know what’s good for you.” He grabbed the journal and said, “And I’m taking this with me.”

The kids cleared the way as Lina and Randy walked out of the room and out of the house.

Someone screamed, “Someone call the 911!”

Brandon was still on the floor when suddenly he went blank.

  Chapter 5

Brandon woke up in a hospital with his stomach wrapped completely in bandages. He tried to sit up but was in too much pain. Everyone was there, Crystal, Cassandra, and Dana. He thought, of course Mitchell wouldn’t show his face. Because of all the pain he was in, Brandon went back to sleep.

Brandon was in the hospital for three days, most of which he spent his time sleeping. Finally, it was time for him to go home. His parents were still out of town and he was thankful for that.

When Brandon walked into the house, Mitchell was watching television in the living room. Mitchell didn’t try to help Brandon up to his room.

Brandon said, “Wow, I have never seen anybody as selfish as you.” Mitchell turned and glanced at Brandon and continued to watch television. Brandon became angry and walked and stepped in front of the TV so Mitchell couldn’t see.

“Get out of the way,” yelled Mitchell.

“I can’t believe that you didn’t help me. What kind of brother are you?” Brandon ranted.

Mitchell responded dully, “You are old enough to fight for yourself.”

“That is a bunch of crap. Do you not see how big he is compared to me? How am I supposed to fight back against someone that big and be kicked in the stomach over and over?” yelled Brandon.

“You could have found a way,” said Mitchell.

“Oh my God! I can’t believe you,” exclaimed Brandon. “All of this over a few lousy video games. Remind me not to take anything else from you. I may end up dead next time.”

“Stop being so melodramatic,” said Mitchell.

“Do you have any feelings?” asked Brandon. There was total silence in the room. “Okay, let’s see how you’ll feel when I call mom and dad and tell them everything that happened.”

Mitchell replied, “I can’t believe you are being such a wimp about this.”

“So, I’m the wimp, but you’re scared to get into trouble with your own parents,” said Brandon. “I guess you do have a feeling. Fear. And guess what, I don’t care because I am still telling mom and dad.”

“Whatever, do what you want,” replied Mitchell.

  Brandon walked upstairs to his room and picked up the phone and swiftly dialed his dad’s phone number. It rang a few timed before he answered.;

  His dad answered, “Hello?”

  Brandon said, “It’s me, dad.”

Dad said, “What is it, Brandon? Is everything okay at the house?”

“No, everything is not okay,” replied Brandon.

Dad wondered, “What is going on, Brandon.”

Brandon took a deep breath and blurted out the entire story, “Mitchell threw a wild party a few days ago and he invited this bully who is always picking on me at school. He beat me up really bad while Mitchell just sat there and watched. I had to stay in the hospital for three days because they had to make sure he didn’t break ay bones.” Brandon panted.

Suddenly all he heard was dad yelling, “He did what?”

Their mother’s voice came from the background, “What is going on?”

“Pack your bags. We are leaving now,” said their dad.

“Why are we leaving?” asked mom.

“I’ll tell you on the way,” answered dad. He came back on the phone, “You tell Mitchell that we are on the way home right now. And, as soon as we get there, he is grounded until further notice.” The phone went dead.

Brandon said, “Hello? Mom, dad?” Then he hung up the phone. “I’ll let that be a surprise for Mitchell.” Brandon thought for a while. Then, he found where he hid Mitchell’s games and got them. He walked downstairs to the living room where Mitchell was still watching TV. He got back in front of the TV and dropped Mitchell’s games on the floor in front of him.

“I thought I’d do something nice for my supposed older brother, who doesn’t help his little brother in a fight against a person two times his size,” said Brandon sarcastically and walked back upstairs to his room. Too tired to write in his journal, he lie gently on the bed and quickly fell asleep.

Back at Randy’s house Lina was in frenzy.

“Will you shut up? He is still alive and Crystal will be okay. It’s not like I meant to slap her,” said Randy.

“It doesn’t matter if you meant to slap her or not. You still did,” yelled Lina as she paced. “She and everybody else don’t know it was a mistake. She could call the police. Any of them could.”

Randy responded, “Will you calm down? If they were gonna call the police, they would have by now. It’s been three days. Besides, that little wimp is too afraid of me to call the police.”

Lina, trying to calm herself, replied, “Okay, I guess that makes sense.”

“Just calm down,” Randy persuaded, “Everything will be fine. You should really work on that problem you have with overreacting.”

Lina smiled and laughed, “Shut up!”

The next day, Brandon’s parents were home and Mitchell was very surprised when he was grounded for three months.

Brandon went to pay Cassandra a visit. Cassandra heard someone knock at the door, and to her surprise it was Brandon.

“What are you doing out of the house? You’re supposed to be in bed,” she said to Brandon. She let Brandon in and guided him to the couch.

He then said, “I have the perfect plan to get Randy back.”

“No, I don’t want to hear this,” she said as she covered her ears.

Brandon pulled her hands down and said, “Could you just listen to me for a minute?”

“I can’t believe you are even considering messing with Randy again. Do you have a death wish?” she ranted.

“I promise it isn’t gonna involve fighting,” persuaded Brandon, “But, I am gonna need everybody’s help.”

She replied, “When you say everybody, who exactly do you mean?”

“You, Crystal, Dana, and…Lina,” Brandon answered.

Cassandra was astounded, “Why would you even ask Lina to do anything? She helped him beat you up.”

“My plan won’t work if Lina isn’t in it,” said Brandon.

“Okay, but don’t expect too much from me. I am still against this entire thing,” Cassandra replied.

Later that day much activity was happening at Brandon’s house. Someone knocked on their door. Mitchell answered and he saw that Lina, Cassandra, Crystal, and Dana were all outside.

“What do you want?” asked Mitchell.

“Brandon told us to come over,” said Lina and she pushed Mitchell out of the way. Everyone entered the house.

  “For what?” Mitchell inquired.

“None of your business,” Crystal replied.

“Brandon, your dorky friends are here,” yelled Mitchell as he went to his room.

“I’m up here,” yelled Brandon from his room upstairs. Everyone went upstairs to Brandon’s room where he planning his plan to get back at Randy. “I have the perfect plan,” he said as everyone took a seat.

Mitchell was outside Brandon’s room listening in on what they were talking about.

  Brandon continued
, “Lina, I haven’t forgiven you for what you did, but you are a crucial element to this plan.”

“I don’t think I can do this,” Lina complained.

“But, you are closest to Randy. You could at least do this for me. You owe me more than that,” said Brandon.

“Okay, I’ll try,” she said giving in.

Brandon dictated, “I need you to get Randy to tell you some of his most embarrassing secrets. Can you do that?”

Lina complained, “I know that I am his girlfriend, but what makes you think he tell me anything that private? He barely tells me anything now.”

“You have to find a way to get him to tell you,’ said Brandon.

“I don’t know. I don’t want to hurt him like that,” said Lina.

Crystal interrupted, “You’ve got to be kidding me. He’s a bully. He hurts people for a living. I already know that he has hurt you and yet you continue to want to be with this monster. Wow!”

Lina yelled, “Shut up! You don’t know anything about my relationship.”

Brandon jumped in, “What is going on?”

Lina replied, “I know he cheats. I know he doesn’t pay attention to me, but I love him. I will always love him.”

“Lina, you are a kid. How could you love someone like that?” reasoned Crystal. “Why would you want to stay with someone you know doesn’t love you?”

Lina thought about this for a while. “You know what? I can do this. I don’t have to take this from him. Count me in.”

Brandon, satisfied, said, “Okay. When we get the information back from Lina, we will all find a way to use it against him.”

“What makes you think that he won’t hurt us afterwards,” Cassandra asked.

Brandon responded, “Because if we find out something that will ruin his life, we can use it to blackmail him. If he doesn’t do what we want him to do we can spread the story. He will be so embarrassed that he won’t bother to show his face.”

“Okay, let’s do this,” yelled Cassandra.

Dana interrupted, “Wait just one minute. Why are you doing this? It is so childish and we should just forget the entire idea.”

Brandon reasoned with Dana, “Did you see the way he beat the crap out of me the other day? Now imagine if he got hold of someone smaller than me. He might end up killing someone and he wouldn’t even care.”
